FCAT TestingPVS parents, please make arrangements to have your child present for FCAT Testing that will take place beginning Monday, April 14. Letters will be mailed home to students and parents with specific information for dates, times and testing locations. All students in grades 3 through 10 are required by state law to complete FCAT testing.
In addition, students in the following courses must be present for end of course examinations:
- US History
Course RequestsPinellas Virtual School is actively working to prepare for the 2014-2015 school year. In order to best serve students we will need to have your course requested completed no later than Friday, March 7. This is a mandatory form that must be completed if you plan to return to the virtual school in August. You may fill out the attached form, scan and return or you may come in person to turn in the form. We will also take the form by fax at 727-588-6085.
Our school counselor, Ms. Hill, is available in person to help you fill out the form and advise student on the proper course placements. You can come to the administration building and find her in room D312 at 301 4th Street SW in Largo.
The current schedule to meet with students is as follows:
- 5th grade – Monday, March 3rd 9:30 – 11:30am (Click here for the 6th grade course request form)
- 6th grade – Monday, March 3rd 1:00 – 4:00pm (Click here for the 7th grade course request form)
- 7th grade – Tuesday, March 4th 9:30 – 11:30am (Click here for the 8th grade course request form)
- 9th grade – Tuesday, March 4th 1:00 – 4:00pm (Click here for the 10th grade course request form)
- 8th grade – Wednesday, March 5th 9:30 – 4:00pm (Click here for the 9th grade course request form)
- 10th grade – Thursday, March 6th 9:30 – 4:00pm (Click here for the 11th grade course request form)
- 11th grade – Friday, March 7th 9:30 – 4:00pm (Click here for the 12th grade course request form)
Remember the course request will secure your placement in the program for the next school year if you currently have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and have attended all required state assessments. If you have already decide to not return for the 2014-2015 school year please fill out a withdrawal form at http://virtualschool.pcsb.org/component/rsform/form/16-student-withdrawal-form.html indicating in the comments that you will not be returning in the fall.

FAIR TestingPVS parents, please check with your child regarding an assignment during this 6 weeks called FAIR testing. The FAIR is assigned by the state to monitor reading progress three times each year. The window for this test is set by the state and cannot be extended. Students must test during daytime hours and will require a key (password), which changes daily. Detailed directions for FAIR testing are attached as a separate document. Testing must be completed during the week before 6:00pm.
Students who do not test will be missing a grade that cannot be made up.
The third phase of FAIR Testing will be from April 2 until May 20, 2014.

Student SpotlightCongratulations to Pinellas Virtual School students Alyssa Kenny, Veronica Powell and Braden Zeigler, who have been named regional winners in the 2014 Scholastic Art Awards! Their art teacher is Jack Tovey. Alyssa and Braden both received Gold Key Awards and will advance to the national competition this spring.
Congratulations to Pinellas Virtual School students Coby Cullen, Taylor Maronie and Kate Roberts, their art work has been selected to be on display at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center February 22-March 30, 2014.
