If you’ve recently moved to Pinellas County or your child is transitioning into our school system, you’ll need to register for the 2025-2026 school year.

FOCUS Student Information System

Use Focus's Online Application form to:

  • Reserve a seat for the current or next school year

  • Change your residential address

  • Apply for a District Application Program

  • Submit a Special Assignment Request

Exceptional Student Education (ESE)

For students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP):

For children ages 3–5 in the PreK ESE Program, contact the ESE Student Transfer Team at the number above.

Parental Choice Options

Pinellas County Schools offers a range of quality educational opportunities.

Zoned Schools

Kindergarten, 6th, and 9th grade students are automatically assigned to their zoned schools.
Use the School Zone Locator or view zone maps for elementary, middle, and high schools.

Families may:

  • Apply to a District Application Program

  • Submit a Special Assignment Request (SAR)

 View schools currently at capacity

Special Assignment Requests (SAR)

SARs allow families to request a school outside their zoned area.
SARs cannot be used for District Application Programs (DAPs)—they have a separate process.

  • SARs are granted based on seat availability

  • Assignments are valid through the highest grade level

  • Transportation is not provided—families are responsible for travel

  • Apply anytime via the Focus Parent Portal

To apply:

  1. Go to https://focus.pcsb.org

  2. Choose Late Special Assignment Request 2025

If space is not available, students are placed on a waitlist. Families will be contacted if a seat opens.


Special Attendance Permits (SAP) – Out-of-County Residents

Families who live outside Pinellas County may request a Special Attendance Permit (SAP).

Requirements:

  • Submit PCS Form 4-302

  • Space must be available at the requested school

  • Approval must be in the best interest of the educational program

  • Families are responsible for transportation

Once granted, SAPs are valid through the highest grade level.

Important Notes:

  • Students who are suspended or expelled cannot be approved.

  • In-district students will not be displaced by out-of-county applicants.

Preference is given to:

  • Dependent children of active-duty military members relocating due to orders

  • Students placed in foster care

  • Students moved due to court-ordered custody changes or the loss/illness of a custodial parent
